NRA - Automatic Weapons And Gun Control

The big controversy rages on over the gun control issue in what the U.S. Government might pass into law and the National RifleAssociation with its counterparts and gun enthusiast via the confusing, Meg and sometimes, ambiguous language found in the U.S. Constitution and or, more specifically what is being loosely interrupted in the Second Amendment by the gun advocates concerning what really constitutes the forming of a militia, the purpose of that militia and or, what types of firearms are appropriate in a given circumstance such as war time armament and small arms for defense and what is appropriate for home protection or hunting trips .

The Second Amendment does state that we as private citizens have the right to form a militia in defense of our country and moreover that we as private citizens also have the right to bear arms however, what kinds of arms would be appropriate is left up for liberal interpretation to which is the problem, the Constitution on the whole should be considered a obsolete document in its present state and more suited for the issues and times found in 1776 and not so much, as beneficial part of the political system found in American today pertaining to the very different issues and or, crisis that face us currently that again, those in 1776 were spared in confronting for the obvious reasons. The U.S. Constitution falls generally lacking in just about all the amendments to some degree but especially in the provisions of the first and second.

Firstly, let me say that I think this entire issue of the gun vague rights being fought by gun advocates defending their position in owning and operating automatic weapons is essentially being fought for both obvious and hidden reasons alike as on one hand, we have those that proclaim to be American Patriots whom demand their rights under the second amendment and in the same breath, can't help themselves in reminding us all of Waco and Ruby Ridge and the Governments and or, the FBI and ATF's indiscretions in heavy handily handling these situation to which resulted in civilian deaths for no apparent reason.

Further, while also stating that the U.S. government “ will have to pry my gun from my cold dead hands” chuckle, chuckle hence, this leaves me wondering if these folks are as patriotic as they proclaim, or are they just hiding behind the second amendment as a vehicle to buy, own and possess automatic weapons designed for war time activity and for whatever reasons be it, in defending America or actually fighting the American government.

Concerning the owning of small arm automatic weaponry and the forming of militias to either defend our country or to break away from what some consider to be an oppressive American government and or, to intact some kind of civil war for real etc, I would say that to own and use small arms against a professional Army, Air force or Navy be they foreign or domestic, would be an exercise in futility at best that is, unless any self-appointed freedom fighter groups had the ability and financial resource to form a professional and fully erupted military structure around their newly formed militia.

In other words, gorilla fighters with small assault weapons going up against an established army, air force or navy today won't fair very well against Tomahawk's, SAM's or Stinger missiles, nor do they do they survive tanks, destroyers, drones, anti aircraft guns or other heavy ordinance and armaments readily available to most governments and so, the second amendment is for the most part a outdated and romantic idea over all with absolutely no real substance to it other then encouraging some with a distorted view in possibly holding up in caves and bunkers for a time concerning any conflict they might have with a government until all threats of their enemy encampments have been eliminated at a safe distance by long range attack vehicles, That's what happens to little groups trying to take on huge army’s for whatever reason.

As far as the NRA goes, I wonder at times where their loyalty’s rest in the over all sachem of things, and if its really the second amendment that their trying to protect, or the millions of dollars they could stand to lose should they be inhibited by federal law from taking contributions from the weapons dealers who in-turn, pay for the lobbyist whom again in-turn, pull their livelihoods from the arms trade, It's really all about the money isn't it?

Really, what we have here, is a one sided small arms race in America with the gun advocates trying to catch up with our military and further, they are encouraged and fed by the fear mongers, or gun merchants perpetually capitalizing off the selling of automatic weapons to these folks that feel somewhat more secure via a house full of mechanical death whom moreover, like to waste a lot of rounds or ammunition on ten cans while carrying out what they consider, to be combat maneuvers in the forest that is, when their not watching or exchanging government conspiracy theory with each other and so fourth.

Again and really, do we need automatic weapons to go hunting with or to guard our homes from intruders ? A good dog or sawed off shot gun and dear riffle would take care of those situations in my opinion. Another point I'd like to bring up here is found on the premise that if we as tax payers are paying a professional Army, Navy and Air Force to protect American soil, then why do we as private people need to posses, own and utilize automatic weapons ? that is again, unless we as a people don't really trust our military or government to defend us.

Don't get me wrong here, as I believe in home protection and more so, own a few old guns myself in the form of shotguns, riffles and hand guns yet, I've never felt the need to own a bush master or M-16 no more then I've felt the urgent need to own a bucket of grenades or plastic explosives. I'm an x-military man from a long line of solders to which some of, served under General Patton in the 2nd world war. I live out in the wild of west Idaho and Wyoming and at one time or another have faced off with everything from grizzly bears, moose, timber wolves and in rare occasions a few intruders yet, I've never had to shoot anything that I wasn't hunting and further, what I did shoot for food years ago, I brought down with one or two shots from a riffle.

I joined the military years ago because I wanted to serve and defend my country, I liked the uniform and the automatic weapons that I used while in service butt, when I came back to civilian life, I had no problem in leaving the tools of the trade behind probably because I was sick of them by that time lol. My advice for those that have a deep love relationship with automatic weapons would be to join the armed forces in one capacity or another and get yourself in the correct situation for automatic weapon use with professional training, the armed forces could use a few good men and women, wouldn't you agree?

To those that feel that America is such a bad place to live in to the point of arming yourself against your own government I would suggest that you move to a better country of your liking as most of us here in America have enough problems as it is without having to worry about a bunch of vigilantes running around without direction or proper training.

Again, ask yourself this Paramilitary groups, where were we during 911, I didn't see many of you joining up with the armed forces to fight terrorism nor, did I see any of you out defending American soil when the terrorist risk of attack was at its highest and moreover, I don't really see any private militarily orientated groups forming any kind of militia groups in stopping these flash killers from murdering school aged children and teachers alike and thus, even though you have the second amendment behind you and a house full of automatic weapons, the enemies of this country seem to have walked right over us at will.

If you really love this Country as you say you do, then look for ways to assist her in this time of need past collecting firearms and hiding behind what I consider to be a outmoded second amendment in its present state, and do something constructive in the way of protecting or children and American society over all.

Gun Control

The Country is absolutely saturated with guns and so, any law passed into effect will have to have teeth to them and moreover, must be realistically enforceable to have any effect over a national populace if they are to be successful. The problem with gun control is that this in itself is a myth over all, as gun ownership is really out of control in this country I my opinion and people will always have guns despite the laws in effect.

Even if a government made it totally unlawful to own  automatic assault weapons in this country, the guns would still exist in basements and other hidden places lol and thus, what has to be done currently is effective moderation at the entry level of  weapons trade concerning what is released into society by given weapons dealers, next, banning automatic weapons on a government level as these are purely war time weapons, tieing up any black markets either operating within, or coming in from out of country, keeping tight hold on government programs such as “Fast And Furious” and through offering incentive programs to the general public such as “guns for money” in a effort to remove dirty and unregistered guns and automatic riffles from the streets.

In the event that munitions and military warehouses are breached by whatever outside enemy then special task forces must be formed to immediately investigate and recover this war time material at all cost and lastly, as much as I hate to admit it, the military black market and military surplus markets must be done away with and or, modified concerning what reaches the streets in America that ultimately falls into the wrong hands.

The goal here is a disarmament of sorts and in keeping appropriate weapons in the appropriate fields of use, removing dirty guns from the hands of kids and young adults and having laws to protect the rest of society from careless gun owners and or, gun owners that yield the access of deadly weapons to unstable people in their general vicinity. This has never been an easy task but a worth while one that will typically save many innocent lives, just my opinion and suggestion.

Government School Plan

I believe that the federal government has good intentions but will fall short of finding resolution to this national crisis through gun control measures only, Of course I'm pertaining to mass shootings in public places for the reasons I will cite in the following paragraph below.

The laws regarding automatic weapons most definitely need to be tightened up or better yet, it should be unlawful for civilians to own, or use automatic weapons in my opinion why?  Because its like hunting rabbits with a bush master LOL, there's absolutely no sane reason for this type of weapon to be circulating in a civilian society and hence, we must draw the line between what is appropriate and what isn't regarding firearms in a peace time civilian population, PURE AND SIMPLE.

Automatic weapons of any kind are implements of war and are designed for killing human beings, Why would you want your neighbor to have something like that especially if he was a bit unstable, you wouldn't. Why would parents of a unstable child expose that Individual to such weapons of mass death ? That furthermore, could be living next to you, that wouldn't make me feel secure at all, what about you?

The deployment of additional police and first responders around the schools will only add to the national deficit and might not be as effective as needed in itself and thereof, may not validate the ending cost expenditure of tax dollars regarding such a ambitious program however, this action does have its value worth when working in conjunction with other such programs as community watch and or, gated systems around schools with auto-lock doors and other early warning detection systems that the government or state could possibly assist the school system with .

Even these contemplated actions or remedies might temporally detour, or even stop a shooter until he can re-think his campaign of death and terror in that, he will either strike between law enforcement shifts or patrols and or, by bidding his time and then maybe taking out the guard first before he continues on to the innocents, I remind you all, that this is a suicidal predator that were dealing with here that will stop at nothing to carry out their attack.

I will say that “Guns don't kill people, People kill people” which means, that the problem isn't the guns, or even the automatic weapons more so, then the people pulling the hammer down on large groups of innocent bystanders and young children. Please pay special attention to the next set of statements below.

Our Government's Plausible Plan Of Action

Ok, here we go, The only way that your going to get people to care about each other and to take responsibility on the private level is if the federal government forces the issue by instituting new laws that hold people accountable for what their kids are doing, and what they have access to such as drugs and guns, Do I have your attention Federal Government?

I hope so.

In short, if your kid goes out and breaks a neighbors window you have to pay for it, If your kid breaks into a house and gets thrown in jail over it, you have to pay his legal fees and keep him inline with the courts orders, correct?

If your kid goes out and kills a bunch of people with your gun or automatic weapon then what? That's right, You should be held liable for his actions along with him, via federal or state law.

It's only when the Psychologist, Doctors, Parents, Schools and anyone else that has anything to do with a kid or young adult is made accountable, will you see these killings stop dead in their tracks, I GUARANTEE IT.

The fact of the matter is, that we as a society must realize that the government can only do so much and that we must start caring enough about each other to take part in our communities in heading this terrible murdering trend off at the pass.

It's not the automatic weapons causing this murderous spree more so then our complacency and inattention in NOT noticing what is going on with our youth and our lack of action in resolving, or catching loose cannons walking around on our streets and in our schools.

It's really time that we make things our business and get involved for the sake of the children and anyone else that might be in the snipers cross hairs or line of fire, It's time that this killing spree stop once no matter what it takes. This isn't Cambodia, Vietnam, Baghdad or some far off killing field, this is in America, people.

The way I see it, the federal government needs to pass new federal and state laws making people accountable for the ones that they hold legal guardianship over, then those Guardians will be more attentive in watching and reporting the unstable folks both in, and out of their care and thus, preventing public shootings by deranged or possible psychopathic killers whom just want to take out a shit load of people as their one last act of defiance.

The Psychologist, Doctors and Courts needs be held accountable as well with some new federal laws that govern them in that they don't just wave these KNOWN unstable and violent persons through the system just because they have a heavy case load. From what I've seen, these shooters aren't hard to spot especially, when their talking to signs or hearing voices from God telling them to kill the Extra Terrestrials , or whoever.

It doesn't take billions of dollars to solve this problem even though the employment of police and other responders would create jobs yet, having a few good laws passed that everyone could agree with for the betterment and safety of the American society as a whole would be more cost effective in the long run the way I see it.

If were going to put this fire out let's do it in the right way by going to the source of the problem being complacent parents, schools, police and court system in where these mentally disturbed people are slipping through the cracks, it's a lethal mistake that we all pay for and some more then others.

We, also must be a society with a heart while looking at these shootings for what they are : “A TRAGEDY” that keeps occurring so much, and like clock work, that we have become hardened and numb to it as a society. Just think of the numbers of faceless and nameless dead whom died unaware and at the hand of another who some of which, went on to get life in prison and moreover, that we continue to pay for with our tax dollars.

Closing The Psychiatric Hospitals

In the 80's, a lot of the mental health Institutions closed down for whatever reason and as a result, turned many severely disturbed people out on the streets for the rest of us to deal with, what happened?

You know, society only works when everyone plays by the rules yet, if you have a nut case out there will he play by the rules ? I don't think so.

We have to stop being so damn politically correct and say it like it is Ok ? “Crazy People” don't make good neighbors, but some of them do make great cold blooded serial killers, Don't they?

I would suggest that we in some way, re-open some of these wards simply because Rehabilitation “Doesn't Work” for some, and why take the chance? of having a tiger with a gun walk past you in the mall or down the school hall on the way to lunch.

I would personally urge the Obama Administration to address this issue here as well and thus, with the combination of these other measures above along with this suggestion, I think that we can with a unified effort get a handle on this epidemic of what I like to call flash shooters that pop up out of nowhere killing lots of people.

National Crisis

This is a National Crisis and the Congress and Senate need to be receptive to effective resolutions put before them in the form of bills hence and again, by putting any grievances or disagreements aside and effectively approaching this issue with all due and non-stop vigor until our streets and schools are safe once more.

This is actually worse then terrorism as these shooters are successfully going out and committing these heinous acts of mass murder while catching law enforcement and everyone concerned by complete surprise and worse yet, its all senseless as they commit these acts for no apparent rhyme or reason be it political or otherwise.

The new federal and state laws should fashion themselves accordingly to, and along the lines of the Bush policies being the “three strikes” and “zero tolerance” laws that in-turn, effectively stiffened penalties for felony offenders.

The new federal and state laws should be stiff and enforceable against any offense or infraction against stated laws concerning the ownership and accountability of one's firearms and any emotionally disturbed persons or otherwise under another's care.

For example, One such suggestion or provision would read something like this: “Under no circumstance shall any firearm be accessable to, or in the general area of, or found in the living quarters of, or facility of, or reach of any person under treatment for depression and or, any other mentally debilitating condition requiring medication or psychological treatment for bipolar, schizophrenia or otherwise, especially if a person has displayed violent tendencies, or has a violent history either on or off record etc., etc., etc.”

Also, counties and city municipalities should have watch programs instituted to ensure proper care of unstable persons in controlled environments and or, anonymous call hot lines to report abuse against, or the improper care of a given person under psychological care be they institutionalized or in a out patient care situation.  Guns and unstable persons simply don't mix no more then careless and stupid people and guns, as we all know.
